Take a look at some of the upcoming 5Ks in and around Youngstown, Ohio.

Central Valley Warrior 5K

Central Valley High School will host the Warrior 5K run and walk on Saturday, April 23. The event gets started with race day registration at 7:30 a.m. at the Walter R. & Lois A. Sylvester Wellness Center. The race starts at 9 a.m., and there will be an awards ceremony immediately following the race. The top male and female finishers will receive trophies, and there will also be trophies for the top three times in each age group.

It’s $20 to enter the race, with the proceeds going to provide health and wellness equipment to students in the Central Valley School district.

10th Annual Fishcreek Raccoon Run

The Annual Fishcreek Raccoon Run is a sure sign that winter is gone, and it’s time to get outside and start running again. The 10th annual race will take place on Sunday, April 24. You can take part in either the 5K or, if you want something shorter, there’s a 1-mile fun run. If you prefer a virtual run, it’s still an option this year.

The Raccoon Run supports the students at Fishcreek Elementary School by providing funds to help educate them about their health. You can register online through April 24. It’s $25 for the 5K and $20 for the 1-mile Fun Run. Everyone who registers gets a t-shirt, and all finishers will receive a medal.

The race starts at 5238 Young Road in Stow, Ohio.

Stasny Road Racing 5K Prediction Race

Do you want to predict how fast you can finish a 5K? Check out the Stasny Road Racing 5K Prediction Race. During registration, provide your best guess of how long it will take you to finish the race. This time officially becomes your guess on race day. The goal is to complete the race with a time as close as possible to your guess without any help from a GPS, watch, music, or anything else that will help you keep time. Awards will go to the top five runners who guess the closest time to their actual finishing time. Race officials keep track of when you start and when you finish.

The race takes place on Saturday, April 30, in Austinburg, OH. Registration is open, with event fees that range from $20 to $30, depending on when you register.

Mosquito Lake Chase

The 2022 Mosquito Lake Chase 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run is on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. Proceeds from the registration fees will go to the Oscar Grant Scholarship Fund. Oscar Grant was a WWI Veteran, teacher, and coach in the area. It’s $22 if you register before race day and $25 if you register at the race. It all gets started at 7:30 a.m. at Maplewood High School in Mecca, Ohio, with the race beginning at 9 a.m.

The top three male and top three female finishers will all get prize money awards, with the top finishers in each group receiving $75.

The annual Run to Breathe Half Marathon & 5K takes place in Pottersville, PA, on Saturday, April 16. Registration for the half marathon is $35, and the 5K has a $20 registration fee. Both races are also offered as virtual events if you prefer to run independently. Everyone who registers by March 25 will receive this year’s shirt, and if you register after the 25th, you can get a shirt from one of the previous years.

The race is at the McDanal’s Boat Launch at Moraine State Park in Portersville. The entire race is on the paved bike path and is an out and back course. It’s a fun race for all levels of runners since the route is relatively flat and easy. There are three different water stops along the course for the half marathon, and there’s one at the 5K turn around. Proceeds from the race will go to the Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis Inc.

This race is always a fun family event. There will be food and fun at the park during the race, some unique awards for runners, and finisher medals for all the half marathoners who cross the finish line.

The 9th annual IHM 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run share the same date at the Kentucky Derby. On Saturday, May 7, it takes place with a Kentucky Derby theme and name to honor the shared race date.
